Fencing

A fence should be straight, secure, and built for Michigan frost. We handle the layout, posts, gates, and finishing so you don't chase three contractors. Milford and Southeast Michigan.

Fencing
Sound like your property?
  • "I need privacy from the road."
  • "The dog needs a real yard."
  • "The old fence is leaning and rotting."
  • "The line runs through brush and nobody will touch it."
What D1 does

Fencing, in plain terms.

Most fence problems are post problems — set too shallow, out of line, or in ground that wasn't cleared. We start with the line and the posts, and the rest follows.

Not includedWood, vinyl, aluminum, chain link — which are currently offered is pending confirmation · Permit filing — we'll tell you if your township needs one
  • New fence installation

Layout to the survey, posts set in concrete below frost line, panels or pickets hung straight. Materials offered — pending confirmation.

  • Gates

Walk and drive gates that hang true and latch.

  • Repairs & panel replacement

Leaning posts reset, damaged sections replaced to match.

  • Replacement & tear-out

Old fence removed and hauled, new fence installed.

  • Line clearing

Brush and roots cleared along the line before posts go in — see land clearing.

Built for Michigan ground

Frost moves posts.

A post set to the depth of the auger, not below the frost line, heaves. Every spring it comes up a little more, and the fence follows. We set posts for the ground here, not for the catalog picture.

Questions about fencing
Do I need a permit?

Some townships require one, some don't. We'll tell you what applies to your address at the estimate.

How long does a fence take?

Most residential fences are a few days once posts are set. We'll give you a real start date.

Can you clear the line first?

Yes. That's usually why people call us instead of a fence-only company.
